Three Student-Athletes Participate in NCAA Career in Sports Forum

Texas Tech had three student-athletes participate last week in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, which helps prepare student-athletes who aspire to have a career in sports after college.

Texas Tech was represented by Tiara Williams (women's track and field), Bjorn Thomson (men's tennis) and Sydney Goodson (women's basketball) in the virtual forum that featured student-athletes across all divisions that were selected by their institution and then the NCAA.

All three of the student-athletes selected also participated in the J.T. & Margaret Talkington Leadership Academy's Suited Success Career Series, which helps prepare student-athletes for life after college by providing education and resources on how to choose a career path and pursue it upon graduation.

The NCAA Career in Sports Forum encompasses several workshops with experts in the sports industry who serve as facilitators. Some notable topics of discussion this year included: self-awareness and its role in professional development; practical approaches to the sports job search; personal branding; developing a career plan; managing yourself as a professional in the sports industry
